Femtech France Publishes the 2026 French Femtech Landscape Report

For the fourth consecutive year, Femtech France, the leading organisation for entrepreneurs innovating in women's health, and Wavestone, a transformation consulting firm, are joining forces to publish the annual French Femtech Landscape Report. This report has established itself as the reference for tracking the French women's health innovation ecosystem, offering each year a precise snapshot of its commercial, financial and human dynamics.

"France is not only the country with the most Femtech startups in Europe: it is also the first country in the European Union to have established an investment fund dedicated to women's health innovation. European leadership is within reach," said Delphine Moulu, co-founder and Managing Director of Femtech France.

A sector that continues to structure itself

With 200 active startups as of 30 April 2026, up from 170 a year earlier, the French Femtech industry confirms its growth trajectory. The market is gaining depth: the average funding ticket has reached 3 million euros, nearly a quarter of startups (23%) have already reached profitability, and 38% report stable revenues. These figures reflect the sector's growing maturity. Driven by real commercial traction and increasingly solid business models, Femtech startups are now firmly embedded in France's health innovation landscape. This structuring is also reflected in the sector's financial attractiveness: half of the funding raised by French Femtech startups now comes from international investors, confirming that the ecosystem's influence extends well beyond France's borders.

Against a backdrop of national and international instability

The year 2025 was marked by political instability in France and a highly uncertain geopolitical environment. This pervasive uncertainty weighed on economic actors across the board, and Femtech was no exception. The shifting geopolitical landscape and evolving international alliances have also impacted the sector's geography. In 2025, the Canadian Embassy launched a programme to support the international expansion of Canadian Femtech startups. While the United States might have been the natural destination for such a programme, it was France and the United Kingdom that Canadian startups chose to prioritise. A strong signal of the growing credibility of the French ecosystem on the international stage.

Resolutely optimistic outlook for 2026

Far from being discouraged by this context, French Femtech startups are approaching 2026 with striking confidence. 79% of them plan to hire over the course of the year, a sign of undiminished ambition, and 77% describe themselves as optimistic or very optimistic about their company's future. These growth ambitions are reflected in the increasingly diverse profiles being recruited: medical expertise is now being complemented by tech, regulatory and commercial skills. This dynamism is also rooted in growing institutional recognition: among the startups surveyed, 7 are already reimbursed by the French national health insurance, paving the way for a genuine step change in scale. In an economic climate marked by caution, this level of confidence sets Femtech apart as one of the most resilient sectors in health innovation.

"By addressing a longstanding blind spot in healthcare, Femtech is accelerating the recognition of women's health, and now with the support of national health insurance and complementary health schemes," said Laurence Al Neimi, Insurance expertise lead at Wavestone.
