Yeda, the first bra for your pelvic floor, launches on Kickstarter

Yeda is a Berlin-based soft robotics company developing an individualised device for supporting women’s pelvic floor. This is mostly relevant for those suffering from pelvic floor dysfunctions (PFD) and urinary incontinence, which are 50% of all women globally. The team developed an end-to-end solution that offers immediate support based on a silicone inflatable device and long-term training over an app, which is a differentiator from other training devices or traditional pessaries.

Yeda is a silicone device designed for women with a weak pelvic floor to be used in common activities of daily life. It is inserted into the vagina, above the level of the pelvic floor muscles thereby supporting the pelvic organs including the urethra, bladder, vagina and uterus. By using inflation technology, the device is adjustable to fit the size of each woman’s pelvic floor. The device is made out of two main parts, an inflatable silicone form and a hand pump. Yeda is intended to be used for sports or during the day and removed during the night. The device is safe to use and made out of biocompatible silicone.

Together with the device, Yeda offers a training program for the pelvic floor muscles over an app. For best outcomes, it’s best to use the app together with the device, but it can also be used separately.

Benefits

  • Immediate support from the first moment of wear

  • Enhanced feeling of inner balance

  • Complimentary training for building strength (optional)

  • Improves sex life

  • Discrete use

  • Individualised for each body size

  • Easy to insert, remove and clean

  • Enhancing self-confidence

Usage

The deflated silicone form is pressed with two fingers to the size of a common tampon and then inserted into the vulva. When placed fully inside the vagina, the device will be inflated with a manual pump to reach the desired support alongside comfortability. When the right point is achieved, the pump can be disconnected and the silicon tail will be folded into the vagina. When desired, a thin string is left outside of the vulva (similar to a tampon string) for better grip of the device by removal.

In order to remove the device, the silicon tail will be pulled outside of the vulva and by pressing the release button the air will be discharged. When deflated, the device can be easily removed (no need of the pump).

After use, the device has to be cleaned properly, with vaginal friendly soap or boiled water.

About the team

Dr. Kaven Baeßler has been working with and researching pelvic floor dysfunctions and their respective treatments for over 20 years now. That is why she is so frustrated with current solutions on the market as they are far from being adequate. Hence the idea was born to create their own device incorporating her experience and knowledge from countless studies.

She met Yair Kira who was a product designer for pessaries at that time during a research project at the Charité. Yair’s mother was suffering from PFD and was supposed to undergo surgery. So she approached her son if he could help her - knowing the situation with the current conservative treatments he was intrigued to find a better solution.

This is when Yeda came to life, back in the days under the name YoniCore.

At the beginning of 2023, Anna Maria Ullmann joined the team with over 10 years of experience running and building teams and businesses. Driven by her own female-specific disease she is also highly motivated to find the best solution for a silent and overlooked quarter of the world’s population.
